On enquiring into Jack's health he replied: Yes fine, I am fully committed at the present dealing with my treatment for throat cancer, so forgive me if I appear uninterested which is not the case. I was with the SS Sacramento as a 16 year old and in British Columbia when the 2nd World War broke out. The ship was finally torpedoed. I meantime transfered to the RAF and became a Fighter Pilot having spent 2 years as a Staff Pilot. Mainly on Mosquitos. I was trained in N0 6 British flight training school, in Ponca City Oklahoma. A long way from Gravesend Sea School. in 1938. I am now 88 and enjoying life as a much loved Grandad. Please still keep in touch.
